The Island

Since 1977, our family-owned sanctuary has offered a rare glimpse into the untouched beauty of the Mesoamerican Reef—the largest in the Northern Hemisphere. Unlike the crowded public beaches of West Bay, Brady’s Cay provides an exclusive, vendor-free haven where the Caribbean Sea meets 40 years of Roatan history. From our origins as a nautical summer camp to our current status as a world-class destination, we invite you to experience an organic island lifestyle where every guest is treated like family.

Your Security is Our Priority

Safety Beyond the Shore

We understand that visiting a new country comes with questions about security. At Brady’s Cay, we have cultivated a private sanctuary that eliminates the common stressors of public travel. Unlike the bustling public beaches of West Bay, our island is a restricted-access property. This means no persistent street vendors and no unauthorized visitors.

  • Verified Transit: Every guest is transported in marked passenger vans or buses by professional drivers.
  • Professional Oversight: Our team, lead by coordinators like Nelli, maintains a constant link between the port, mainland reception, and the island.
  • Inclusive Infrastructure: We provide wheelchair-accessible facilities and outdoor freshwater showers to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all.
Ship-Back Guarantee

We guarantee your return to the port at least 1.5 to 2 hours prior to your ship's departure. Our transit loops are synchronized with your cruise itinerary to ensure you never miss a departure.

A Legacy Written in Salt & Sand

1850

A British Colony & Pirate Haven

Long before it was a sanctuary for travelers, Roatan was a strategic British colony. Our shores served as a safe haven for legendary pirates navigating the Caribbean, leaving behind a spirit of adventure that still lingers in the ocean breeze today.

1977

The Brady Family Arrival

John Richard Brady III purchased the island with a vision of conservation and education. What began as a family retreat evolved into a lifelong mission to protect the Mesoamerican Reef and share Roatan’s organic beauty with the world.

The 1980s

The Swiss Sailboat Era

John operated a 112-foot ketch sailboat originating from Switzerland. He transformed the island into a prestigious summer camp, teaching youth the art of celestial navigation, deep-sea diving at exclusive spots, and the importance of reef preservation.
